How To Use SPECIAL Influence To, Well… Influence People

Most business owners talk about building influence like it’s some kind of mystical art reserved for the chosen few, the ones with perfect teeth, $20k masterminds, and a ring light bright enough to blind aircraft.

So, they do what all lost entrepreneurs do when they don’t know what they’re doing, they start posting random motivational quotes, half-eaten lunch photos, and half-baked value posts that make everyone scroll faster.

It’s adorable, really.

But influence, real influence, isn’t about how many hashtags you use or how many AI-generated carousel posts you can crank out in a weekend. It’s about one simple equation:

Influence = the likelihood someone actually does what you tell them to do.

That’s it. Not likes. Not views. Not engagement.
Action.

And if you want people to act, to follow your advice, buy your product, or join your weirdly named “inner circle”, then you need to build what I call SPECIAL Influence.

Each letter stands for one of the secret levers that make humans nod, click, and buy faster than you can say “link in bio.”

Let’s break it down before another guru tells you to “just post more content, bro.”

S: Status

Let’s be honest: people follow winners. Period.

If you have what they want, or you look like you do, your influence skyrockets. Status means you control something your audience finds valuable, money, results, access, beauty, fame, power, freedom, or that elusive thing called “calmness” that entrepreneurs pretend to have but don’t.

When you walk into a room, do people lean in… or look away?

When you talk, do people take notes… or check their phones?

That’s status.

It’s why I can say, “I’ve sold three companies,” and people immediately perk up. Because that means something.

That’s proof that I’ve built, scaled, and exited real businesses, not just reposted Gary Vee quotes with a selfie.

Status isn’t about arrogance, it’s about signaling that you’re someone worth listening to.

You can’t fake it for long, but you can build it fast by demonstrating competence and control.

Show the world you’ve actually done something.

P: Power

Power comes from one simple human behavior: trust built through results.

When someone follows your advice once and it works, they’ll follow you again. When it doesn’t, they’ll ghost you faster than an MLM rep at tax time.

Power is earned through repetition of success.

Example: You tell someone to add a two-step opt-in form to their landing page. They do it. Conversions double. Suddenly, you’re not just some marketing dude online, you’re the guy who helped them make more money.

Next time you give advice, they won’t hesitate. That’s power.

Influence without results is like a Tesla without electricity, shiny, expensive, and completely useless.

E: Energy

Now we’re getting into the stuff most people miss.

You ever notice how some people just vibe differently?

You could listen to them read the ingredients on a cereal box and still want to take notes.

That’s energy.

It’s not about being hyper or loud, it’s about resonance. It’s your emotional frequency, the current you emit that either charges people up or drains them dry.

When your energy matches your message, you become magnetic.

If you’re selling freedom, you better look like you have some. If you’re selling confidence, don’t sound like you’re apologizing for existing.

Your audience is subconsciously asking:
“Do I feel better when I’m around this person?”

If the answer is yes, they’ll follow you anywhere.

If not, well… hope you enjoy those two likes from your aunt and your bot follower from Jakarta.

C: Credibility

This is where talk meets proof.

Everyone says they’re an expert these days. But you know what separates the “I read three blog posts” crowd from the real pros? Receipts.

Credibility is tangible proof that you’ve done what you say you can do. Awards. Testimonials. Case studies. Screenshots. Numbers. Photos of you standing in front of something expensive and vaguely impressive.

And if you’ve sold three companies?

Boom, instant credibility and status in one clean shot.

That’s like showing up to a job interview driving the company you used to own.

I: Interesting

Nobody listens to boring people.

You can have all the knowledge in the world, but if your content makes people feel like they’re reading a PowerPoint presentation written by a sleep-deprived Freshman, you’re done.

Being interesting doesn’t mean being fake. It means telling stories that spark emotion. Humor helps. So does honesty. Especially the kind that makes people say, I can’t believe someone finally said it.

Interesting is a survival skill in the attention economy.

If your personality can’t cut through the noise, you’ll drown in it.

A: Aligned

Alignment is the invisible force that makes someone think, “This person gets me.”

It’s not just about selling them a solution, it’s about showing them you understand where they are and where they want to go.

When your values, goals, and mission align with your audience’s desired future, they’ll see you as the guide who can take them there.

Think of it like this: if your dream client wants to climb Everest, don’t show up talking about your love for bird watching.

When you’re aligned, you don’t have to sell, you just lead.

L: Likeness

We like people who remind us of ourselves. Period.

You don’t need to look like your audience, but you do need to feel like them. Use their language. Understand their frustrations. Laugh at the same absurdities they do.

It’s not manipulation, it’s connection.

Ever notice how you instantly trust someone who gets your specific struggle?

That’s likeness in action.

This Is compound Marketing

Each of these elements multiplies the others, they compound each other.

If you’ve sold three companies, you’ve got Status and Credibility. If you tell the story with infectious Energy, that’s another layer. If you’re Aligned with where your audience wants to go and you do it with humor that keeps them glued to your words, now you’re unstoppable.

But if you lack all of it?

If you don’t even have just one?

You’re just another face yelling into the void about “mindset hacks.”

So, next time you make content, don’t just regurgitate advice like a motivational parrot with crackers stuck in his beak.

Show you’ve done what they dream of doing.
Prove it actually works.
Be interesting enough that they remember your name tomorrow.
Match their energy, and stay aligned with their mission.

That’s how you build SPECIAL Influence.

Not by trying to “go viral.”
Not by mimicking whoever’s trending.
But by being so real, so sharp, and so damn effective that people can’t help but follow your lead.

Influence isn’t given. It’s built, brick by brick, through proof, personality, and presence.

Do it right, and you won’t just have followers.
You’ll have believers.

And those people move mountains.
